1825 Charleston Porter Tag
Diamond shaped "slave tag" made by well known Charleston silversmith and City Marshall John J. Lafar. Upper tag corner has hole and beneath reads "CHARLESTON / 1825 / PORTER / No. 629 / LAFAR" indicating the city where the tag was made, date of issue, slave occupation and slave number.
Tag has been well cleaned but still shows remnants of Verdigris on front and back
