Maggie S." Gimple enlisted on 8/28/1862 as a Corporal and mustered into Co. I. He was mustered out on 5/31/1865. On the Easel Monument Gimple is listed as "slightly wounded
" on May 16, 1864 at Laurel Hill, "by being struck on the head with musket by the enemy but still remained with Regt." . . . and "Hatcher's Run, Oct. 27, '64, where he was again slightly
wounded by rifle ball in right leg. Was sent to Field Hospital . . " "On Sept. 26 '64 was promoted to Color Corporal" Census records indicate the John Gimple was originally from
Funkstown, MD. He was born April 1839 ~ on March 17, 1869 he married Margaret Savilla Rhodenizer ~ they had 4 children, 3 daughters and 1 son. John Gimple died on September 18, 1911 and
