1858 Hardee Hat w/ Artillery Insignia
The felt hat is in overall excellent condition with it's original red artillery cord and ostrich plume. The Company letter D over artillery cross canons over 13th regiment with Hardee hat pin insignia on the side are all original. The sweat band is compelte and in tact with a very nice U.S. Army extra manufacturer. Size 7 No 3 label.

Artillery Sergeants Shell Jacket w/
12 Button front shell jacket. Exterior wool is in fine condition with one repair under left arm. Piping and Sgt. stripes are tight and in like condition. NCO shoulder scales have proper attachments. Right sleeve lining is size "4" and maker marked with blurred company name "/ New York / 3 Nov. 64" contract date. Both sleeves have marks which have been previously cut out. Unknown stamping on interior back lining with several small seam repairs around collar and sleeve lining.

Civil War Officers Forage Cap
Dark blue wool broad cloth in similar shape of an enlisted man's forage cap. The front rises 4 1/2", back seam is 6 1/2", crown is 5 1/2" in diameter. The visor is of the duckbill variety, measuring 6 3/4" wide with stitched binding. The chin strap is of tarred leather with a sheet brass buckle and secured by two 3-piece Civil War general staff buttons. The interior is lined in black silk. The crown is quilted with diamond shaped stitching. The forage cap has a 1 1/2" wide brown leather sweatband. Condition is very good. Several areas of mothing in the front folds of the forage cap. There are other minor holes at the base and toward the rear and on the crown. The hat is original however the sweatband appears to be a replacement.

Excellent overall condition and probably unused. This style is a pattern generally associated with Massachusetts troops. Maker mark (not legible) is stamped on the inside of the flap.

Heavy Artillery Sgt. Frock Coat with Trousers
9 Button frock with Sgt. stripes on both sleeves. Front, sleeve and tail buttons are all standard Eagle buttons. Wool material is in excellent condition with no holes or mothing. There are some seam thread separations at the collar and the left cuff at the piping. The interior shoulder lining has some fraying on the green linen liner and a small tear in the leaf rear, brown polished cotton tail pocket. Right sleeve is stamped size "1" and maker marked "J.B. Boylan, Newark, NJ / Nov 3d 1864". Boylan had a contract for 25,000 artillery uniform coats on Nov. 3, 1864 in Newark. Left sleeve has a very light maker stamp. The repairs needed are very minor and for stabilization only.
Dark blue wool trousers have wide red artillery stripes down both legs. Some mothing and repair around the fly, one suspender button missing on the rear. All other stitching seems to be tight and complete. Inside waist band has 2 dots sizing.

Union Artillery Corporals Shell Jacket
MINT un-issued condition. 12 button front. Beautiful red piping is excellent. Interior lining also in mint condition. All seams and stitching are tight. Right sleeve is marked with 2 dots and blurred inspector stamp. Left sleeve has no marks.

Union Artillery Musician Shell Jacket
11 button front. Wool and piping are mostly excellent condition w/ slight mothing on right cuff. Minor stain on reverse side of piping left cuff and a small area of dried glue on reverse side of left cuff. There is a 2" separation in the left underarm seam and a small ½" separation on right arm seam. Size "1" and dot marking in right arm with "12" and one dot in left arm.

Union Staff Officers Frock Coat
MINT condition throughout. Staff Captains single border shoulder straps. Tailor's label in collar "Manufactured by E. Hughes Washington DC". Interior waist buckle is complete and tight. Fold over black velvet collar, 9 button front, staff buttons on front and tails. NY State buttons on cuffs.
