Civil War Binoculars
Rare maker and configuration.  Japanned binoculars have excellent optics.  Original case has complete interior purple lining with replaced leather hinge and closing strap. Both case and optics are marked "Maison Soleil" "Normand Succ. Ingenieur Opticien". Overall length fully extended 13"  closed 7 1/2". Wonderful addition to any collection from a small French maker.

US Signal Service Glasses "US NAVY"
Circa 1890-1915
Eye markings are "LEMAIRE FAB * PARIS" and 'A.S.ALOE - CO. (INC) * ST. LOUIS".  Other markings are "U.S. SIGNAL SERVICE" "FIELD GLASS" and carved in the binoculars under the sun shade is "U.S. NAVY / 16884"
Optics work well - no case.

Oval lense is dated 1853 on rim beneath cover. Optics are excellent. Leather case with purple lining is all original with not repairs. Binoculars are marked "JUMELLE ELLIPTIQUE BREVETEE".
