- he was Mustered Out on 11/6/1864. Phipps then enlisted on 2/17/1865 and was mustered into 1st MD PHB Inf. On 4/8/1865 he transferred into "G" Co. MD 13th Inf.
He was Mustered Out on 5/29/1865 at Baltimore, MD. 12th MD Discharge signed by: 2nd Lt. Charles Harris Lester 2nd US Cavalry - Graduate USMA 6/11/1863 Enlisted 6/11/1863 ~

12th Mass Infantry Letter from George P. Boyce Co. G Three page letter is dated Oct.
4th, 1861 near Darnstown (MD). Letter details the Regiments movements through the Sharpsburg and Harpers Ferry areas. Boyce describes that they "went by John Brown House. It is a very quere looking house . . . " . He also tells his friend "(we) took the Canal
Boat for Darnestown, MD, since yesterday morning there has been 17 Regiments by here to Poolesville, MD." "within five miles of us there is 10 Regiments, two Mass. 2nd & 12th we can here them firing
up to Poolsville today it is 8 miles from here." George P. Boyce ~ a 19 year old cabinet maker ~ enlisted on
7/10/1861 and mustered into Co. G 13th MA Infantry. He was listed a *Wounded 9/17/1862 Antietam, MD and was discharged for wound on 11/29/1862 at Harrisburg, PA. On 8/14/1863 he mustered into Co. D 3rd MA Heavy Artillery and resigned on 5/30/1865. He was promoted to Sergt and on 7/27/1864 to 2nd Lieut.
Boyce was born in 1842 in England ~ after the war he lived in Reading, MA. and was a member of GAR Post #75. $175.00 - EPH266 - partial records included
